Animal Party at City Hall

Some interesting creatures have emerged in front of San Francisco City Hall, bringing bold colors and playfulness to the plaza. These vibrant large-scale animal sculptures are created by Taiwanese artist, Hung Yi (洪易). The art installation is entitled “Fancy Animal Carnival” featuring 19 baked enamel on steel plate sculptures, which includes the Sharing Elephant, Auspicious Triple Sheep, and Money Frog.

Yip, mom, and I had a fun excursion viewing the artwork. It appeared others did as well as they posed and took pictures with the animal sculptures. Afterwards, we walked along Hayes Valley to my favorite sweet shop to enjoy the beautiful day.

Bumbe is 10

Bumbe is 10! As always we have a celebration with cake and a birthday hat! For his 10th birthday, I made him a two-tier cat cake out of Fancy Feast and Friskies with Buddy Biscuits treats trimming. Bumbe only had eyes on his cat cake, but learned over the years to be patient until after the photo shoot to dig in. And like every year, his guest, Yun Yun managed to sneak the first bite.

This year, I put Yip in charge of the birthday cake for us humans. He told me the story in which he asked the baker to “be creative” and the baker said they don’t do that. He then made a drawing and asked the baker to replicate it. As he brought the cake home, he said that the cake did not look good. When I opened the box, all I see a big pink strawberry cream cake with two cute silly paw prints! It made me feel so happy!
